This cottage cheese smoothie bowl is packed with lots of protein and fruity goodness. It’s a hearty snack that will help fuel your day.
I’m excited to be working with Friendship Dairies cottage cheese on their Fuel Your Fancy Contest. The protein in cottage cheese is higher than you might think – it’s enough to fuel you to do the things you love.
For a chance to win $5,000 in the Fuel Your Fancy Contest, simply take a photo of something you love to do and upload it at fuelyourfancy.com. I can’t enter the contest myself, but I’m sharing a photo I might use if I were able to enter. One of my favorite things to do is get outside for a walk or hike somewhere beautiful with my family. Whether it’s a hiking path, a beach, or our local wildlife sanctuary, my family knows that if the afternoon plans are up to me, those are the places where we’ll usually end up.
Whenever I go out for a hike, I need a big snack before I go. I have a crazy metabolism that burns through food more quickly than I’d like, so I’m always trying to come up with new snack ideas. And the one thing that makes the best snacks? Protein.
These delicious, fruity smoothie bowls are full of protein because of the cottage cheese. Each ½ cup serving of Friendship Dairies 4 percent cottage cheese has 14 grams of protein. The nuts on top of each smoothie bowl add even more protein, and the collection of fruits in this recipe make it a great healthy snack.
The protein in the cottage cheese isn’t the only thing that makes it ideal for a smoothie bowl. The smoothie mixture needs to be extra thick to allow the additional toppings to sit nicely on top of the smoothie. The natural thickness of cottage cheese gives the smoothie bowl the structure it needs to keep the toppings from falling through the smoothie to the bottom of the bowl.
