Agua Fresca is a delicious, refreshing drink popular in Mexico and Central America. Literally translated “fresh water,” Agua Fresca can be made with a variety of juices including mango, watermelon, and papaya.
This watermelon version (adapted from Martha Stewart) is a great alternative to lemonade because it requires much less sweetener. I love having delicious drinks like this on hand because it makes it easy to stay well hydrated. With just 4 ingredients, this drink comes together in minutes and it’s a special treat at an outdoor gathering. If you’re serving a crowd, you’ll want to double or triple the recipe so everyone can enjoy it. You can also mix in some carbonated water to stretch it.
Recommended Equipment
Ingredients
- 4 cups chopped watermelon seeds removed
- Juice of 1 lime
- 2 tbs maple syrup (or to taste)
- 2 cups water
