With Hanukkah taking place this week and Christmas just around the corner, this is the time to create homemade holiday gifts for friends, relatives, teachers, and anyone else you appreciate during the holidays.

Homemade gifts mean a little more than store-bought ones. As an added bonus, homemade gifts can also be more affordable than the ones you’d buy at the store.

Here are several things I’ve made during the past year that would be great holiday gifts. Click on the pictures to go to the recipes.

  1. This year I am stumped. Last year I made bag holders (fabric tube with elastic and both ends and a loop for hanging). I have them all over the house to hold the plastic grocery sacks that I use as trash bags in the bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry room.

It was a short leap to make them up in colors that worked for the recipients’ homes.

The neighbors will get plates of assorted goodies. The teachers will get cookies or snack mix (that Maple sure looks good!) with a gift certificate to a new local coffee shop.
