realfood.bag.pngWelcome to Real Food Real Deals! I’d like to say I love to cook, but I’d be lying. The truth is, I love to eat.

I love to eat good food that’s healthy and easy to cook. I don’t mind standing at the counter chopping away, measuring, shaking in a few spices. But I don’t love it. I love the eating part.

My name is Annemarie, and I embrace the challenge of getting real food into my family. We’re not the most adventurous eaters, but I’ve done a decent job introducing my children to a healthy variety of foods.

That being said, I could do much better. While I don’t buy foods with high fructose corn syrup or partially hydrogenated oils in them, my pantry does have its fair share of processed foods.

The biggest obstacle to feeding my family the best, healthiest real food possible is the high price tag. Of course I don’t want to give my kids food with pesticides and chemicals, but I can’t justify spending an exorbitant amount of money on organic food. It’s a struggle to find the balance. What food plan is “good enough” – not too expensive but also not too unhealthy?

After years of weaving through different approaches to food, it’s clear to me now that I don’t want to eat a lot of highly processed foods and I don’t want my family to eat them, either. However, I don’t want to be so rigid about what we eat that it becomes stressful on all of us.

As a seasoned bargain shopper, I will bring my money saving strategies to the world of real food. Come back often to see what I’m cooking and to find some real food bargains!
