Chocolate Spritz Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/3 cups gluten-free flour
  • 3 tbs cocoa powder

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • Cream the butter in the bowl of a stand mixer. Add the maple syrup and salt, and mix them with the butter. Then add the egg and vanilla, and mix to combine.
  • Sift the cocoa powder and flour together into a small bowl. Gradually add them to the mixing bowl with the butter mixture. Mix until all the dry ingredients are incorporated into the wet ingredients.
  • Transfer the dough to the cookie press. Press the dough onto ungreased cookie sheets. If the dough doesn’t come out of after the first press, give it a second press. If the dough is a little messy coming out of the press, you can gently press down on each cookie with your finger to even things out.
  • Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes, or until set. Cool on a wire rack, and store in an airtight container.
