Ingredients

  • 1 tbs. olive oil
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 small red or green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 2 tbs. maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. cumin
  • dash of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbs. red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbs. soy sauce
  • 2 cups tomato sauce or diced tomatoes

Instructions

  • Pour the oil into a large cast-iron skillet and add the onion. Cook for a few minutes, until translucent. Add the green pepper and cook until softened.
  • Remove the vegetables from the skillet. Cook the turkey until it's no longer pink.
  • Return the vegetables to the pan with the turkey. Add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine evenly.
  • Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve warm on biscuits, rolls, or baked potatoes.
