Sea Crest Beach Hotel Disclosure

My Irish grandmother used to say that the sea air cures all ills.

That may not always be true, but there’s something irresistible about the air on Cape Cod that keeps people coming back summer after summer. When New Englanders are looking for an easy summer getaway, Cape Cod is often the first place that comes to mind. Its beautiful seaside landscape and slower pace make it a great place to recharge.

Sea Crest Beach Hotel Review

My family recently celebrated the start of summer with a trip to the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Located right on Old Silver Beach, the Sea Crest is a fantastic place for a family vacation on the Upper Cape. Many of the guest rooms are directly on the beach, which features soft white sand and gentle surf. Lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels are provided, so there’s no need to load up the car with a mountain of beach supplies.

The Sea Crest also has an indoor and an outdoor pool, so there are plenty of options for water fun. The pools are nice and warm, which isn’t always the case at hotels. My husband and I definitely appreciated that feature when it was our turn to jump in.

This recently renovated hotel has many different room types to suit a variety of travel budgets. All the rooms are furnished with very comfortable beds, sitting areas, televisions, and complimentary wi-fi (available throughout the resort). The hotel offers children’s programming throughout the day, including sunset movies in the courtyard. Boredom isn’t possible at the Sea Crest!

Red’s Restaurant at the Sea Crest

When we were getting ready for our trip to the Sea Crest, I read through the reviews of Red’s Restaurant on TripAdvisor. A theme I noticed throughout the reviews was that Red’s is “surprisingly good.”

After eating at Red’s, I agree with the reviewers that this is a surprising place. At a beach hotel, I typically expect greasy, fried food and limited, uninspired vegetables. This is far from what you’ll find at Red’s. The menu includes locally-sourced seafood, steak from local family farms, organic greens, and New England cheeses.

When we go out to eat, my family tends to share a big salad before we get our entrees. That way, everyone is sure to get some vegetables as part of the meal. At Red’s, we tried the Organic Hand-Picked Summer Greens with local goat cheese, and everyone loved it. That says a lot when a 10-year-old and an 11-year-old are at the table. This salad was a surprising hit for us.

Our entrees included fish and chips with local haddock as well as locally-sourced steak. Everything was delicious. I was happy to see strawberries and organic whipped cream as a dessert option on the kids menu. My daughter really enjoyed this dessert, which was a bit healthier than a typical restaurant dessert.

The service at Red’s was fairly slow on the night we were there. Fortunately, we didn’t have anywhere to go, so we didn’t mind. With a beautiful view of the water from the three-season room, Red’s is a great place to spend a lazy summer evening.

Poolside dining and an outdoor bar make the Sea Crest Beach Hotel a great spot on a summer day.

For a quick lunch, Red’s offers a take-out menu for poolside dining. The Sea Crest also serves a big breakfast buffet every morning. We enjoyed the omelette station and the large selection of fresh fruit for breakfast. And, of course, the kids couldn’t resist the waffle station and the pastry selection. There’s always a little room for treats at breakfast on vacation.
