This cherry chocolate smoothie bowl is a healthy breakfast recipe that tastes like dessert! It’s a delicious gluten-free, vegan snack.
Smoothie bowls are such a fun way to eat breakfast. I love their pretty presentation as well as the endless list of ingredient possibilities.
This cherry chocolate smoothie bowl includes a hearty serving of oats in addition to the typical characters in a smoothie. The oats make it thick enough to pile on the toppings.
I like to include nuts, fruit, and coconut on top of a smoothie bowl, but you can use anything you want as long as it’s light enough to float on top. Chia seeds and other types of seeds or nuts are also good options.
I recommend tasting the smoothie after you blend it and adding a little pure maple syrup if it needs extra sweetener. This will depend on the ripeness of your bananas. You can customize the flavor to suit your tastes, and double the recipe if you’re feeding a crowd.
Cherry Chocolate Smoothie Bowl
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 1/2 cups cherries pitted
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1 tbs cocoa powder
- 1 tsp walnuts
- 1 tsp coconut flakes
- Pour the coconut milk into the blender. Remove the pits from the cherries and slice the bananas. Reserve a few cherries and banana slices for the topping, and place the rest of them in the blender. Add the oats and cocoa powder to the blender and process until smooth. Taste the mixture, and add a little pure maple syrup if you want it sweeter.
- Divide the smoothie between 2 bowls. Top each one with sliced cherries, sliced bananas, diced walnut, and coconut flakes. Enjoy!
