How to Make Healthy Ice Cream
Many flavors of homemade ice cream can be made without an ice cream maker. You can use a high-powered blender to mix the ingredients for a smooth, soft serve consistency. Some of the ingredients will need to be frozen ahead of time to achieve the proper texture.
If you have an ice cream maker, you can use it to easily whip up a batch of creamy, delicious ice cream. I use the Kitchenaid ice cream maker attachment, which needs to be chilled ahead of time for the ice cream to churn properly. Churn times vary, but the machine typically takes 10 to 20 minutes to make a batch.
When my kids were younger, we enjoyed using an ice cream ball to make ice cream by hand. It takes about 30 minutes to make ice cream by rolling the ball. Ice and rock salt come into play in this fun science experiment.
